I have tried them all and prefer AutoWeek. I don't much care for Dutch Mandel and Denise Mcclugage(sp) simply cannot write.
I also subscribe to Car and Driver, but only because they sent me an offer for a year at something like $4.50. I doubt I would renew even at that price. They don't give me anything I haven't already read about in AutoWeek or seen on this board.
AutoWeek is my staple and I pick up any of the others when they report on something I care about.

I've subscribed to all of them off and on over the past thirty plus years. Most of them in the poll are decent magazines except Motor Trend which I think is truly a piece of crap. Some European magazines such as EVO and Performance Car are also good magazines.

I tried 'em all, except Motor Trend (it use to be really bad) over the years. I'd agree that AutoWeek seems the fairest. I tend to agree with C&D views a lot. Like someone else said, R&T (which was my bible years back) puts me to sleep now. I've never liked Automobile from the start, its too cutesy and lacks depth for me. SCI was clearly my favoriate but they died somewhere along the way and when they resurfaced I quess I missed it. Now I find there's so much new car news on the net, it's like.... who needs magazines.

To Da Hapa...
Most impressive!
I subscribe to:
Car & Driver
Road & Track
Automobile
AutomotiveNews (on-line thru work)
I voted for R&T since I think they are a bit more technical, detailed and less arbitrary than C&D (though yes, a lot dryer). C&D wins for entertainment out of the US brands. I'll read Evo and Car at B&N occasionally. The brits can be a lot more scathing and entertaining. But if you think US mags are biased! Automobile is just too short on substance. Also usually get a hold of Autoweek which is best for timeliness.
I'll read just about any except Motor Trend. Used to have a subscription. But now I consider it fodder.
A monthly game is to try to predict all the placings in the car comparos before I read them. I think I can usually get it about 80% right in C&D.

F&%^ them all (even though I subscribe to every one of 'em except Automobile). In bed with manufacturers they are. You'll never see a strong negative opinion in CD, RT, MT or other (Assstek notwithstanding) 'cause their tongues are stuck, well, in manufacturers assteks.
Euro car mags seem to be a lot closer to the truth. They're nationalistic, for sure, but goddamn they have no fear of losing advertising $$$ when they don't like a vehicle.
Grassroots Motorsports is about the only useful car mag I read.

I have decided that all U.S. car mags suck. European mags, on the other hand are pretty good.
-EVO is a good european mag, but...
-BBC Top Gear is by far the best car mag I've ever read- the only problem is it's hard to find.

I have gotten them all over the years now I just get C/D. R&T I always enjoyed side glances and Peter Egans road trips but found the rest of the mag. not for me. C/D I get a kick out of John Philips writing. The magazine has changed considerably however since David E. Davis was there they had a lot more entertaining editorials. I remember P.J. O'Rourke used to contribute a bit to C/D back then. Now they are very political and also more and more truck/suv articles are finding their way into the pages.

Eyescream, I couldn't disagree with your more, IMO CAR magazine from Europe is a true POS, the magazine is an absoulute waste, and their editors can go to hell. Anyways i dislike car and driver too, and find the rest to be pretty decent.
