Get a... Prelude from 1997-2001 you might be able to get one cheap. Any 3 series? Think about those before you go with the MR2, it's not practical. The MR2 barely holds groceries.... oh well. You could look pimp in the BMW... hmmm..

I'm dying for a bike right now, looking at a yamaha R6, you should learn how to ride brandon, I don't know how to ride either but I have rode dirt bikes/atv so I'm kinda use to the hand clutch and food shifting. You could find a good bike for 8K for sure.

i definitely don't want to turn this into a "which first bike" thread, but may i suggest the Suzuki SV650. You can get the brand new redesigned 2003 for 5700 and it is a GREAT! bike to learn on. I learned to ride on smaller bikes and have ridden everything up to liter bikes and still have a blast on my SV so you can keep it forever too.

PS. an R6 as a first street bike may not be a wise choice slcook but i won't say any more than that
PPS. both of you should spend some time over on www.sportbikes.net if you're serious about getting into road riding

it's a Vtwin 650 so it will deliver power much more smoothly than the inline R6. This way you'll be less likely to wind up in a really bad situation if you grab too much throttle. It also is HELLA fun to ride, a real hooligan bike. If you have any more bike questions feel free to PM me so we can get out of this thread.
