Unfortunately I had too much work to go on the set (and I live in London anyway), but I went in the editing room, where they were playing with different soundtracks for the end, and where I saw the movie before they perfected the links between the takes.
But they did a nice Making-Off, which is quite funny - you see the failed attemps where things just DON'T work
Funny fact: I sold my '92 Civic VTI to Antoine, the director of the film, a few years ago, and he still has it, even though he makes about $100.000 per commercial now, and he does quite a few every year!!
I'm poor as hell, work for free since 2 years, but still drive my S2000!

First to see if the idea was doable they were given an old crappy Accord and dismounted it completely, tried different 'tricks' with the parts, then did a proper storyboard, and were given the final pre-production Accord, dismounted this one too, and started shooting in a studio outside Paris.
Needless to say, for months I heard about their experiences and how they were having lots of fun, but when it came to filming with 35mm film (expensive), they were pretty stressed out!!
the film is actually like 4-5 different takes, joined together by Flame (a retouching software).
It is inspired by the work of Fischli&Weiss, 2 swiss artists who did a similar film about 10 years ago.
I asked the director about the uphill tires too, and he explained that it is all real, but that they had strategically placed weights inside, to make them roll!
I love it!!

Can you explain the one where the part is rolling, it stops, the window goes down, then it goes through the door? It's near the end, before the music starts.

That cylinder completes the circuit, and the power window winds down. Notice there's a wire across the the plank. Either that, or there's a pressure sensitive switch on the wire.
