That, and the monster-slab appearance of a V1 versus the sleek 8500 or X50...

When it boils down to acctual performance test, a majority of these are skewed by companies paying to influence tests. Places like radartest.com or w/e it is likely to have some financial backing from somebody.

I'm a v1 user and will be for life (or until we get a v2 lol). While sure, another detector "may" detect a half second sooner, it won't tell you where the bogey is. Its a lot like being shot at blindfolded. You know they're trying to get you, but if you don't know where they're shooting from whats the point in trying to dodge the bullets? Additionally V1's are capable of having their software updated, i'm not sure if the other ones can do this.

If you're looking at it from a style point of view, just slow down and save your paint.

Between the 2, id go with the Escort... Ive owned one before it got stolen and it worked fantastic. It would go off literally miles before Id even pass the cop and rarely falsely went off. Screw Bel and any other manufacturer (aside from Valentine), their products are crap. Cant go wrong between the Escort and V1.

Plenty of warning with the X50. But who cares about arrows? If you're being shot at then you slow down, end of story. I don't care what direction radar is coming from. If I don't see the source I'm not speeding up until it is gone.

Nevermind that BEL is owned by Escort, and many of their products are just re-branded Escorts...

Interesting find Chris S.
You can't go wrong with either the valentine or escort, but that said the price difference naturally gravitated me towards the escort. The arrows are, imho, gimmicky because when the alarm goes off I slow down, look around, and when it;s clear, I speed back up, could care less where they are because either way I have to slow down.
They're both great, price led me to one side and I feel that I didn't cheap out.

I believe that the 9500 and the bel are the exact same detector.

On Escort's website the 8500 X50 is listed with 2 colors. Red and blue, the blue one is $339 and the red one is $299
Besides the color is there any other difference, and is it worth 40 bucks more for the blue one?
