Yea.. its a great idea to get a brand new 100 RWHP supersport 600
as a first bike. (Assuming it is your VERY first bike... as in, no
street experience)
I hope you have some experience on the street if your going
to get a 600SS.
Please dont tell us that you will be learning how to clutch and shift on that
RR. You will go down. Not if.. but WHEN.
I did start on a CBR600, but it was an older less powerful 95 model F3.
(plus I had ridden an older gsx600 katana plenty in the past, not to
mention my off road riding exp. in quads and bikes)
I went from that F3 to a ZX-7R, (ninja 750) to my current Yamaha R1.
If you have no experience on the street, I would advise you to
start with something less than a new 600SS.
And DONT get the R6. GREAT bike,
but the R6 is an unforgiving race bike.
My close buddy JUST bought a brand new R6....(first bike)
guess what. He rashed it, the second day.. wearing
nothing but a pair of shorts, and a wife beater.
He is what we in the sport bike scene like to call a SQUID.
As is anyone who buys a brand new bling bling supersport
as their VERY first bike.

Hmm lets see, yes this is my own first street bike but I do have somewhat enough experience. I was riding for 6 months on my friends Yamaha (forgot what it was called but it was an older mid 90's 600cc one) before I got my S. It's just that I haven't ridden since I got my car and I don't know how rusty I may be.
And yes, I do know exactly what I'm getting myself into. I'm not that stupid to go blindly into a sport bike and not know what to do. Especially not to wear the saftey gear like your friend has done. Also just because you're friend laid his brand new bike down doesn't mean it'll happen to me (prays to god). I've got a couple of friends who jumped straight to an R6 without any experience and are doing totally fine. Besides I got a ton of people that are wiling to help me, as soon as I get the bike, to show me how to respect/control it.

Good choice on the F4i. Find a nice condition used one. They started production in 2001 and haven't changed since.
Don't buy a new one cuz WHEN you drop it, and you will, it will hurt less.

If I were you I'd stick with the F4i (I have one).
I was kinda in the same situation as you. Got my lisence 3 years ago but my parents wouldn't let me get one while I lived with them. So I bought my S2000.
Now that I moved out I decided to get a bike. I found a used 02 with 11K miles for $4500. Pretty good deal for So. California. I love it. Some people may say its comfortable but the seat is a plank. To hard for just cruising on the streets or freeways
It has enough power so that you won't get "bored" as people will say, but it's also underpowered enough to have kept me safe in a few situations where too much power would have got me in trouble and hurt me.
Go out and look for a used one. It's your first bike. You don't even know if you'll like riding too much. You might drop it, better it be used and cheap(er), plus you'll have more money to buy better gear. Don't skimp on gear, people drive nuts out there.
Did you see that post by Azinpimp? where he bought a brand new 600RR and wadded it up like 2 weeks later? Haven't seen any posts from him lately, hope hes came out OK.
good luck, ride safe
