The fact is he changed car design, not just for BMW but the industry as a whole.

Good. While the 7 series did eventually grow on me and I like the new 3 series, I am excited to see BMW go a different direction.

I think its funny that a lot of people including myself didn't really like (or hated) Bangle's BMW designs because they were so different from what we expected from BMW at the time. However now that BMW is getting more conservative we are starting to appreciate his designs. Bangle's 7 series was a huge design change from the previous 7, but the latest 7 is a minor change from a Lexus LS460.

I actually like most of the designs that came out under Bangle. If the new Z4 is any indication, even more good things will come out of BMW in the years to come.

Now if they'd just get someone to sort out their drab interiors...

Sorry Barry...just wasn't a fan.
I know...I cant say I was smitten over all of his work. The man definitely was an automotive shaker. I cant even pronounce his sucessor's last name.

I hear they wanted ''class leading trunk space." Having a high creasing boot lid would do that.

I'm not liking the exclusion of the 1 series from that list. Wait until you see the next gen 1series son!

I dont believe for a second he's done with the auto industry. He's just saying that to leave with a bit of grace. I imagine he'll be handsomely compensated to give lectures and what not on design. I would think his return would be welcomed to the highest bidder. Enjoy your hiatus sir.

All Hail Bangle!! lol

Lol, don't get me wrong, I'm actually a defender of bangle's designs, very innovative and to be honest I used to wonder back in the day why don't car manufacturer's put more character lines in an otherwise flat panel and voila.
The 135i is one of those cars that sorta grow on you but in a weird way, and in a vacuum looks real good. Then you see a 3 series roll up, or some other nice car that you like and you think oh yeah.
Personally, the designs give BMWs a whole level of class, mercs are good but forgettable, lexus is the epitomy of forgettable, and acura is officially a joke but I think Audi has got their act together. I think few full size sedans get me looking as deeply as the current 5 series, other sedans are just vanilla reminding me why I prefer coupes.

Good riddance. There is not a single vehicle in BMW's lineup that I even consider to be halfway decent looking, and I have not felt that way for quite a long time.

Maybe now they can actually design some good looking vehicles and I can finally think about owning a BMW. Oh how I love the thought of the N54 in a good looking car.

Bye Bangle. At least you gave us something to talk about. Personally, I liked the designs (except for the 6 series). I love the Z4. Believe me that Z4 will be a collectors classic in 20-30 years. Now back to Boring Audiesque designs.
