from what i hear they're going to make crashing actually slow down your car enough so that you really don't want to crash. As long as crashing results in some penalty to deter it, then I'm happy
Sounds good in theory, but having experienced it in GT4 Prologue, I can say that it's incredibly annoying. Basically, the way it works is that, after you crash, your car is restricted to something like five or ten mph for several seconds. I know that in real life, a crash like that would end your day, but this is a game; when the crash penalty is in effect, the game ceases to be any fun at all.

Impose post-race penalties, sure, but in my opinion deliberately making the game less fun... well, makes the game less fun.

they were already talking about making GT5 for the PS3.

features include:

-detailed underbody
-realistic crash physics (like if you roll over, you will roll over at a specific angle, number of times you will roll over, the wreckage, etc.)

that's just to name a few. It was on IGN not too long ago.

So, we have to wait for both Forza and GT4. So sad.

Crash? I may be in the minority, but I could hardly care less. If it is just graphical, fine, it looks good. But if it affects performance, first thing I'd do is turn it off. Why? If the AI is as bad as before, you'll crash. The AI doesn't care. You'll be out, as will one of them. And the other cars would be on their merry way.

I guess for online, I could see crash being a proper incentive to get people to behave. But against poor AI, no thanks.

Fix the crappy AI, don't kludge it with this crash penalty (or any other!).

hmmm i didn't know that this was the implementation of the "penalty". That really does sound annoying......something like the car resetting itself to the center of the track and having to start from a complete stop is what i woulda done......

TOca 2 has a great crash model, makes your engine or gears or suspension go depending on what you hit etc. It is really good. And the AI was awesome, it actually knew where you were so it didn't TRY to kill you. Good game, too short in single player and too easy though.

"most realistic" yea, right.
even after all that much time and effort to build the most detailed game ever
the cars still gonna be invincible to crash.

the reason why i don't like this game,
i just get so turned off when i crash my car into a wall going 200 mph.
then dont play........
