I read somewhere that they wouldn't call it the M1, most likely the 1M or something else with the M following the 1 (125M, 135M, etc) to avoid confusion with the M1.

The M1 name is sort of holy ground in the BMW world, so I'd say that's pretty accurate.

They will not be calling it an M1. I'm surprised they are putting such wider fenders when they didn't do it with the new M3 line.

The better question is pricing. The M3 coupe is listed as starting around $58k. The 135i $36k, so maybe the 1M around $45k? If so, thats some serious car for the money. You are just beyond Evo # there, and right in line with the Audi TTS coupe ($46k)

I'm sure that's just test mule stuff. The wheel/tire package on that car doesn't come close to warranting such a wide rear fender. I'm sure the production version will have reworked metal that is slightly wider than normal, without looking overdone.

bmw won't name it m1, they've said it already, what i'm expecting in a name is something like 135M or something of that nature
