Also, for your hp/ltr ricers, note the almost 107hp/ltr!! Not bad for an American make, even though it's forced induction! Same rated horsepower as the 5.5L supercharged AMG V8!

Nice looking but I don't think the handling is there at all. The M5 is much more dedicated, I think, to performance. Straightline, they should be pretty close. Once you start turning, though, I fear the M5 will walk away.
Still, nice looking car, nice interior (a lot more spacious than the M5), and a lot cheaper (and probably more readily available) than the M5.

I think it looks great. It will really make a great used car in 2-3 years with Cadillac depreciation. I like the fact that it doesn't have all the techno overkill of the Germans. Did you also read Autoweek's review of the M5? Something like 279 driving modes. 11 alone for the tranny. C'mon. BMWs just leave me cold these days. Sure, the Caddy won't have the absolute performance of the M5, but it looks like it wasn't designed to. That could give the boy racers something to whine about, but I'm not sure a heavy, 4-door should drive like a sports car. Get a sports car for that. What the Caddy will do is transport 4 adults VERY quickly in total comfort. Sounds like mission accomplished. But, I would like to see a LWB version of the STS to compete with the German LWB limos. I sat in the STS, and the rear seat did not seem especially spacious.

I don't care for the looks of the car and it's approaching M5 pricing...for me there is no comparison between the two cars. Caddy is aiming (and missed) for the M5 and the M5 is the benchmark. However, with the blower the Caddy will be easy to extract gobs of power and is probably alot of fun in a straight line. I also agree it will be a great car in a couple of years given the poor resale value.

i think theres a comparo in the newest car and driver or motor trend. m5 was a lot faster around the track. they also timed the m5 at 4.2 0-60mph! i think the sts-v was like 4.6 or something.

It is GM though, so discounts will be coming...
0.4 of a second to 60 difference between the Caddy and the M5 - not that big of a deal in my opinion.
