Default ATE Super blue brake fluid banned

Took the us government 15 years to find out and now it's banned.

"Alfred Teves Enginieering (ATE, a division of Continental) would be discontinuing the sales and distribution of the popular “Super Blue” variant of its DOT 4 brake fluid. Apparently the Super Blue fluid has run afoul of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard after nearly 15 years on the market for being blue"

I once when to dealer for a service, and I got a call from them ask ... "do you know that your brake fluid is blue ... "

It was great doing a DYI brake fluid change because I know exactly when all the old fluid is out ...

It has been banned in Florida for years now because of the color. I never understood how Florida banned it, but California was cool with it. Most retailers wouldn't even ship it to me. I guess I will have to run the typ 200.

Hmm maybe I should stock up on it. Definitely love switching between blue and amber for easier bleeding.

In FL, and just recently put my last can of ATE blue in the s2000. Had bought a few before the ban. Guess I'll switch to something else now. I have Castrol SRF in the Porsche.

I'm guessing ATE Blue will be replaced by ATE Clear, hopefully.

Dumb question but is there some sort of dye that would be safe to use in your fluid/brake lines that you could use to color the fluid prior to running it through your lines to get the same indicator you would get with super blue?

I am guilty of trying. The places I order from were out (not selling) and apparently amazon canceled the orders that people placed after the ban.

And to the guy asking about ate selling clear- they have typ 200 which is an amber version of ate superblue.
