Aston Martin Vantage vs. Porsche 911
I have become smitten recently for some reason by the Vantage. It's an absolutely beautiful car and the engine note is incredible. While I know it's dynamic traits and acceleration isn't quite up to the Porsche 911 and many other sports cars in it's price category, I think it's styling and engine sound make up for those perceived deficiencies.
They seem to hold up quite well. The research I did on them is that are very reliable, even as a daily driver. Maintenance is once a year or every 10k miles. Buying used, you can get a $30-40k+ discount for only a few years old and low mileage.
Does anyone have experience with this car either personally or through a friend, etc.?
P.S. I am not SERIOUSLY considering one, but I wouldn't mind talking my wife into a used Vantage Roadster as a weekend toy for "her" down the road.

Sorry, no experience with the Vantage. I did ride in my buddy's Vanquish a few times, though. What the two cars have in common is exceptional beauty and incredible engine music. Even riding across town felt like an event - James Bond coming through!
I don't know what it is about Aston Martin. The contemporary competitor to the Vanquish was the Ferrari 550. Put the two next to each other today and the Vanquish is as beautiful as ever, while the 550 looks dated.

short version: vantage looks and sound were enough for me until I had to daily drive it over the summer, then the shortcomings became evident, and the 911 isn't as good as the boxster spyder I traded it for.

^^^ I LOVED driving your Vantage, and liked the 911 a lot - but part of my ranking could be attributable to you not letting my DD your Vantage over the summer to get sick of it.
Yes, I'd probably still buy a 911 over an A-M, just equipped a bit differently than yours was.

I'd go for the Aston Martin V8 Vantage just for exclusivity, but I'm sure the 911 is the better car overall. I can't vouch for either one, though. I've never driven an Aston Martin or any Porsche.
