somehow i knew you would find this... . Hey i did list an ap2 though nothing is final except that i want something better than my present car. I fear i may get rid of the s2000 and then want it back (amer and brian for instance always selling the s and comming back to it).

I wouldn't get the ap2 just because you've been there, done that. You'd end up wanting more power and go FI again and right back where you are. SLK 350 I think may be the same situation. Maybe that it's more luxury you won't miss the power as much. Anyway, a 05 C6 vert isn't much more than a SLK 350 and that'd be what I'd get. That or an 05 Boxster S.

But at the same time it's a very different car to the more "raw" SLK.

what about an audi s4 cabrio, or lexus sc430, i've always liked the sc430 with some nice rims and dropped. very classy
The SC 430 is vaguely blob-like, and the rear end looks like it has junk in the trunk. It is almost as obese looking as the average American tourist at Disney World. The SC 430 cold only be designed by a car company that has no design heritage.
Ultimately, this car is all about show and no go: buying this speaks volumes about the lack of taste of anyone who would actually purchase it.

The shifter won't feel the same as in the S2000 tho', and yes, it's heavier, so it won't feel quite the same when driving around in a spirited manner. But it does have a fair bit more torque then the S2000 if that matters to you.

Not everywhere... As far as I know, the 350 can still be had with a manual transmission over in Europe, although they did drop it for the 350 in the US (the 280 still has it tho').
IMO, it's just a question of pestering your dealer. It doesn't appear in the option list, but if you make it very clear you will not buy it unless you can get it with a manual, they might actually take the extra effort and special order it from Germany.

This car really looks like it was penned by the same designer as the Toyota Solara Convertible. The back seat is a joke, and the interior wood trim (if it is real wood) is so glossy that it looks like it came from an ersatz tree.

Not to mention that EVO or Top Gear once said the Sc430 was the worst car they'd ever tested or worst test drive or somesuch.
