I used to own an Elise, after my first S2000 (AP1). Just bought an AP2 to replace the Elise after it was stolen last summer.
I have to say, Elise has great road feel and teenage girl appeal.
It has comparable acceleration - from what I can remember.
But, where it really falls down: Gearbox, engine sound, interior trim falling apart (after 1 month ownership), rear clam molding on the inside from moisture...at the end of the day, wasn't really much of a "car".
Personally, I much prefer the S2000 as a car that I drive 80% track 20% street. I never tracked the Elise though I imagine it would've been better out of the box. But, still think you could get the S2000 to a point where it's as good as a stock Elise on the track and still a better car on the street from same or less money.
