we keep on going back and forth on the s2000 vs elise.
As I stated before I dont care much about the Elise, but i do think it is a
better sports car on track, but it should be its more money. It seems like people dont look at the fact of elise being 20k more.

You can get a new 2009 base elise for 42k and a 2009 S2000 cr is 35k so you are looking at a 7k diffrence.Thats not to far off in price

For what it's worth, somebody local just reported they got a brand new '08 CR for $26.2k. I have no idea what the street price of a new Elise really is, thogh.

I have test driven 3. An ap1 a few years ago, an ap2 with the loudest, most obnoxious exhaust imaginable, big clunky wheels, and other tasteless mods, and a nice ap2 at Carmax. Really, there is almost nothing I don't like about the unmodified ap2. I thought it was an excellent car. It is just that my sports car ideal is closer to a 1960's Louts Elan or a Caterham than a Corvette or GT-R. I imagine that the S2000 would be really nice to own and that the Elise would be really inconvenient, especially for service, maintenance, and repairs.

As far as the price difference, very low mile used S2000s with hardtop seem to be $25,000-26,000, while 05-06 Elises with under 40,000 run $24,500-$30,000, so the price isn't very different for the cars I would consider.

In my experience: all of them. Non-enthusiasts, male and female, just see the S2000 as a slightly larger Miata -- nothing interesting. Conversely, they all recognize the Elise as something out of the ordinary.
+1. The wife drives the S now (95% of the time on weekdays), and she loves it, but when she parked beside an Elise at work, she oogled at it for a long time.

In the beginning, all early S2000 owners knew you'd eventually be here in 8 years.

I saw an Exige this weekend on the freeway. Every time I see one, I remember how much I want one.

Then I put the top down, threw my guitar in the trunk, grabbed a passenger and headed out to the coast and realized how nice it is to not have a car payment.
