Anyone read Sep 02 edition of MT. ?

MT haters might want to check it out again. They've completely revamped their look and, more importantly, their content. They've almost entirely dropped their meathead bias for torque and straightline performance, and are actually printing well-thought-out, reasoned articles. I attribute this to the addition of David E. Davis, Jr. as Editorial Director. That's right, David E. at Motor Trend!! You could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw his name on the masthead. After letting my subscription lapse over a year ago, I've now signed on again.
BTW, This makes 3 of the 4 big American car mags that David E. has helped shape.

Um, all those mags suck rocks. They test cars, but the times they publish are never a reflection of reality. They are good for pictures, but that is about all.
I would like a car magazine more like some BMX magazines I have, where product is measured against how you will really use it, not against what the manufacturer built it to be passable at. That means jumping Sunfires off curbs, because teen drivers do that. Whipping donuts with pony cars, because that is fun with them. Driving slowly in BMWs because that is how they drive. Packing as many people as you can into a Civic, and driving for two hours, because that is how these cars are used.
Anybody want to spot me some cash to start my own "real" car mag?

you guys should try Car, a british magazine. at $7.95/issue, it's not cheap, but well worth it in my opinion. Top Gear, anoter british mag, can be quite fun at times.

I can't stand C&D - I find them a bunch of old fogies (no offense to the elderly) that are so stuck on their seemingly dated opinions that they can't see past their own noses. They just seem to be stuck in the past while MT (and others) are more progressive (even hip?). I just prefer MT a whole lot more in every way - they also seem to be able to drive the cars better (in a hotter climate, at that). That said, I read R&T, C&D, MT, and SCC every chance I can - I'll read just about anything with cars in it.
