This might be too young of a crowd to ask.... but does anyone have a mazda 5?

I got my first kid on the way, and I am thinking that a Mazda 5 is really useful for kids. Considering my summer/fun car is an s2000... I dont mind getting an "uncool" car like a mazda5. Anyone have one? Wanna tell me your review on it?

Don't have one but it's based on Mazda3 which is usually on top compared to Civics, Corollas, etc. Sliding doors on both sides a plus. How about MS3? Carseat fits fine in the back as well as stroller in the trunk Btw used Mazda5's with low mileage in the 12-13k range so might be better getting used. used for 13k... CRAP... looks like I might have to go shopping accross the border again for a used car. The s2000 was hassle enough.

I'm seeing them for $10.9K to $11.8K in Houston, used. Thing is, the new ones have a 5-spd automatic tranny vs the old 4-spd, which improves both acceleration and fuel economy.

They're great little vehicles - drive well, decently big inside, and great for carrying people and gear. They'll get into the 30+ mpg range on the highway if you drive the speed limit. The back seats are not that big - you wouldn't put adults back there - but they'll work for small children.

The interior is cheap, hard, and bare but that's my only real gripe. It's also available with a manual transmission, which is a plus to an enthusiast (even if your wife doesn't want it)...

i had one, great car, seats 6, 25+mpg, looks good (subjective)
it doesn't have enough power, but you're not buying it to race.
it is a grocery getter/people hauler.

I say go for it, but get the 5-spd. The only vans I would drive are this, the new Odysseys, and the 91-97 Previas.
