anyone know if bmw covers tires under warranty?
I was wondering if anyone knew if BMW would cover one my my tires that blew out under warranty? I dont think I ran over anything, it seemed like the tire the blew up and it is completely destroyed. Anyone know?

tires are wear items. Nobody covers wear items. You might try with the tire maker, however.
I've never heard of a tire "blowing up." Was it properly inflated and driven within its speed rating? If the tire was punctured at highway speeds, chances are slim you could come to a stop before it was permanently damaged regardless the circumstances. That case is not the fault of anyone in particular, just the reason for buying road hazard insurance with new tires.

I see. Thanks for your advice. Yeah the tire was properly inflated and I was going 65mph. Its not a puncture or anything, it looks like the sidewall tore off from the rest of the tire completely around.

What year/type of BMW? How many miles were on the tires?
BMW will warranty tires up to 4 years of vehicle age or first 10K miles of tire life. If the tire meets this then it can be warrantied IF it was a tire defect. That would be up to the BMW dealer to decide this.

my dad just got an 06 328i and he had the option of getting a tire warenty because they are runflat and REALLY expensive to replace (especially labour cost). However he opted not to get it while picking up the car, against my advice. 3 days later hit hits a badass pothole coming onto a bridge and damages the tire. To make a long story short, it was $200 cheaper to get his new tire installed in seattle over vancouver, they wanted something like $545 or something at bmw. That being said, I dont think a second hand 04 would have a tire warranty, especially if you have a spare.

Should've changed out the run-flat tires when your dad had the excuse to. To sum it up the run-flat tires are terrible. They contribute to harsher ride quality and worse handling, not to mention more expensive to replace. Almost everyone on the Z4 forum ditches the run-flat tires as soon as they get a chance/excuse to do so.
