As the editor of a BMW CCA newsletter I can say the "official" word from BMW is that there will be no M version developed for the Z4. However, as a BMW CCA member let me say I don't believe it for a second....I think it is just a matter of time, question is, how much time. Right now I think the M division has their hands full working on the V10 E60 M5, that is not a rumor, that is reality.

apparently, i posted too soon as I got home last night to my most recent issue of Autoweek to see a blurb with pic's on the M version of the Z4. Its still ugly, IMO but it will get the fullly caffinated 333bhp motor that the current M3 enjoys.
Three things are certain.
1) That car will be exceptionally fast (and quick)
2) It will be expensive
3) It will still be FUGLY
