I was thinking about it but the aerostar is really tugging at my heartstrings.

I recall renting one on a ski trip but it was before the S2000 was created so it's more like astro van to S2000.

AWD was plus but I now rent expeditions and the like which far out weigh the poor outdated Astro.

in a nut shell the Astro can transport more people and produce where the S2000 handles better but can't carry much. The S2000 has a folding roof while the Astro has a sliding door (it doesn't fold but turning the Astro on it's side is similar to that you would see in the S2000. the sliding door is manual and quicker than the S2000 motor operated top but if you open the Astro sliding door slower than the S2000 motor driven top the S2000 will be faster.

Owned about 10 of these trucks over the years for business. Simple, reliable and easy to maintain, 200,000 plus miles.

I also drove one across the country, during a bad snowstorm in Tahoe that buried it in snow. Fishtailed a bit, but made it without an accident.

It gets better gas mileage than a full size van. ~18-20 mpg

Would buy one again if they were still for sale. All of the modern fwd, cvt alternatives are more costly to repair transmission wise.

Compared to S2000:

Pros: FR layout, more cargo room, also a 2 seater. Reliable Vehicle very simple. Inspiration for the original Scion xB.

Cons: Not as fast around autocross course, V6 gas mileage less than S2000 4cylinder.

LOL.

But in all seriousness my pops had an astro van, aerostar, silhouette and a previa growing up (5 siblings). I hated each and every one of them... I drove the previa in high school and it was Girl Repellant lol.

Okay. That settles the conversation with the wife about future car to get to pass on to my kids in High School. The Sienna to my kids.
