Any S2Kers got converted to S5 / 335i ?

A friend of mine switched from an AP2 to an E55. He liked the E55, but missed his S, and he was feeling the pain in gas/tire costs. It was a torque monster!
335's are quick, but kind of boring to me.
S5's are gorgeous, but haven't driven one.

If you're concerned about acceleration, the 335 is def. easier to modify and get power out of. Stock for stock, the S5 is quicker. Both cars have more than enough power for every day use, IMO. Some things to note:
335 - have RFTs and no room for a spare
335 - still have a faulty HPFP design (less than 4% incur failure)
S5 - Issue with control arms on 08 MY
S5 - horrible MPG, i get 16/26

^Not a remedy to me. If it craps out, you're still hugely inconvenienced. Add to the fact that I'd be worried about taking it on long/road trips. No thanks.
Remedy = Recall, newly designed fuel pump, no "extended warranty"

335i and S5's are on different levels no? I thought the S5 was built to compete with the M3.
Shouldn't you be cross shopping S4 and 335i? If it was S5 vs. 335i i'd go S5 hands down ...

I still would prefer the S5 over the 335i even though I like BMW better, but the price difference between an S5 and a 335i is big no?

check out a CPO'd IS-F.
Vs. 335:
-Nicer interior
-way more power thank a stock 335, equal power to a modded-to-hell 335 and in any case much higher reliability
-roughly equal mileage
-2 extra doors (although the backseat is like a 335 coupe)
-way fewer on the road
Vs S5:
-not as nice looking
-faster all around, better handling
-better mileage
-2 extra doors
-way fewer on the road
-cheaper than a new s5
-probably more reliable
And any tickets you get can be attributed to unintended acceleration!
