Default Any s2k owners w/ a 04-08 TSX

Thinking about getting a 04-08 TSX. I know power is not there but I just need it as a daily. Any major problems that I should be aware of or look out for. I know Honda changed up some comestics between the 04-05 and the 06-08. What do you guys think about the overall car? Thanks

Try to avoid the '04 as it has the most problems. The biggest issue is the A/C compressor grenading causing a very expensive fix. My wife has a '04 and we haven't had any issues but if you browse the TSX forums it is obvious that the '04 is typically the lest reliable. They don't get very good mileage in the city and they recommend premium so they aren't very economical for a daily.

Euro Accord F T L

Get an Accord V6 if you gotta have that car. If not I'd just get a Toyota since they are cheaper than the Honda used.

My brother and best friend both own them. My best friend has a 2006 5AT with 164K on it (he bought it new!) and my brother has about 110K on his 2005 6MT.

Neither has had any major issues with their cars. My brother is going to need a new clutch pretty soon (he hammers on his cars) but otherwise, the car is still going strong. My best friend needed a new A/C compressor but that's about it for failures.

Thanks for the reply. JohnBoy and TypeSH you mentioned that the A/C compressor needed to be changed due to failure. What year was this issue fix since JohnBoy's friend had an 06 and TypeSH's wife had an 04. I was planning on getting an 5AT but just not sure of the year. Any other major problems that you guys can think of.

There are a few minor issues like the seat heater lights that fail, headlight condensation, window regulators that fail, but the A/C compressor is the only major issue that I know of. From what I've read it seams like the earlier models have more of a chance that the A/C compressor will explode and contaminate the rest of the A/C system. On the later models, if it fails it is more likely to just stop working which isn't near as expensive to fix.

The A/C compressor went out at about 140K miles on my friend's TSX. It was a mileage issue, not an age issue, as best I can tell, since my brother's car is older but has less miles and hasn't had the issue. The compressor just went out - it didn't blow up or anything.

My wife has 95k on her 2005 6sp and I've had to replace the door lock controler for the power locks, but that's about it. Also, the rotors can warp easily.

Well I guess after all these helpful responses...TSX it is. I figured it was reliable but I just wanted to hear it from s2k owners who has one/ driven one. I'll be looking for a low mileage 05+ 5AT. Thanks again guys.
