Default another yucky looking (to me) pantera

what is with the big fender flares and tires that sit inside of them by 4"++++?

this car looks better than that last silver pantera i posted, but they definately need some tires to fill up those huge gaps....

Same story as the silver Pre-L. This is an L model. The L used the same style and size wheels as the Pre-L. This one has 15X8" fronts and 15X10" rears. This style Campy wheel was not used on the GT5 and GT5S.

What tire would you put on this car when you wear the rears out? None of the tire manufacturers are making a Z rated or better tire bigger than a 245 now. The 10" wheels should have something between a 275 and a 305 on them.

I think the ugliness you are seeing would in this case be solved if the owner used spacers to push the wheels out more. This one does have a bit of of goofy look to it because the tires and wheels are tucked in so far. The last Pantera you posted looked much better.

I would agree with you though that that wing - which is a very common fixture on Panteras in general - is overwrought and messes with the car's lines.

Spacers may not work if the wheel arch in the original L model fender has not been opened up. Many of these GT5 & GT5S conversions have just had the flares put on without cutting the wheel opening larger.

The wheels are the biggest problem on that car. Here are links to a few that were done "right."

Well, sure, but this isn't a Pantera workshop forum.

I just wanted to let Scot know what to look at before he buys it. It may not be as simple as adding some spacers or wider wheels to make it look right.

"635 hp on the engine dyno & 485 hp on the chassis dyno"

That is the most linear power curve I've ever seen.

Damn that's a huge loss of power in the drive train. I think someone is fibbing. I love panteras, they are aging well. Can't say that too much about other cars from the 70's.

Lot of loss through the ZF transaxle. We usually figure chassis dyno will be 25% less than engine dyno
