The current 5 does nothing for me. I think I like this one.

Looks way better on the outside. I like the creasing on the hood especially. The car isn't stunning but it's a HUGE improvement over the current generation.

Interior is still somewhat bland but it's functional so that's what would matter more to me. Rear leg room does look improved but I'll have to wait to sit in it (they often move the front seats up to make it look there is more rear leg room). The current 5-Series has less leg room than my wife's Civic, I think.

Gorgeous except that front fender.
I was hoping they could somehow get rid of that ornament/emblem thingy off the fender without making it look empty.
Overall, looks very nice.
Dig the interior as well.

They played it safe...and therefore played it well, IMO. Not the time right now to go and make a radical change to your design... Besides, all the 5 series is for is to keep the current lease folks interested in another lease. Something too radical may send them looking elsewhere.

Good work BMW.

I'm also with Jonboy on this. The interior design just doesn't do anything for me. I'm sure materials and fit and finish are good (for the price they better be) but it doesn't seem to have any real theme to it. It doesn't have the graceful lines of the Jag nor the penta-shaped theme of the CTS or the flow of a Lexus. It lacks the purposeful shape of the 2000 5 series (E39?) but lacks fun and artistic at the same time. Really, I am disapointed with the interior. The exterior is better as it's no longer offensive but it is rather forgettable. Again it doesn't have the really purposeful, no-BS look of the 2000 car yet doesn't pull off any other sort of theme either.

Not bad but I wouldn't lust for one the way I might have for the car two generations back.
