after S2000, NSX or Elise (Exige)?
I just want to know what you guys would pick between NSX or Elise(or Exige) to replace s2000.
I absolutely love everything about both cars.
Being a huge honda fan, I can't ignore NSX, even though car's a little bit outdated. JDM exotic feel I get whenever I look at NSX on the street gives me a heart beat. I'd love to build nice widebody-ed NSX.
I had a chance to ride Elise, and I was just so shocked how well it handled and launched. I love how the car is so focused.
It won't be my only car. I will have separate DD. The car will be used for both street and track use.

Cayman S. Better than the NSX in every way ex. perhaps looks (subjective), 90% of the Elise's handling (and better power) in a comfortable, DD-capable package. Still a huge fan of the car, even though I'm no longer an owner.

I had the same dilemma. Had the budget for 97+ NSX, 2005 Elise and 2005-2006 Boxster S.
NSX is the better daily driver and Elise is more rewarding to drive.
I went with a Z4 M because I thought the NSX-Elise-Boxster S-Cayman S wouldn't be powerful enough to merit twice the cost of a new S2000, but in the end I remembered how much HANDLING and FEEL is important.
A 2006 Cayman S or 2007 Boxster S would be a better drive than an NSX but slightly less rewarding to drive than the Elise at lower speeds.
Go test drive a 1997+ NSX, 2006 Cayman S, 2007 Boxster S and 2005 Elise in a span of one week and then decide.
I love how the NSX looks and it's always been a dream of mine, but the brakes really suk in that car...and the suspension-chassis isn't up to par with a 987S. It just feels less planted and more floaty compared with the Porsche.
Yes I am biased since I own a 2006 Boxster S but I've test driven all these cars extensively and if you're looking for pure driving pleasure in and everyday car the 987 S is very, very hard to beat under 100K.
But if you're going for a weekend car only, a Lotus Elise is more satisfying to drive. It has better steering than the 987S due to being 900 pounds lighter. Acceleration is fun in gears 1-2 but then it gets kind of weak...

If this next term purchase is a long term one I would want an NSX. I think the Elise is very cool but would lose its pizzaz after a while. The NSX is already dated so you don't have to worry about that . I think I'd be less paranoid driving an NSX.
Both are fast. I would just choose the prettier and more fun one, whatever that may be for you. I prefer classic Japanese cars so I'd go with the NSX.

A couple of things to think about:
On the Elise/Exige try one on for size before you set your mind on one. I did and now I know I will not be getting one.
And on the NSX Honda has already stopped producing some replacement parts for this car. And most dealers have stopped stocking parts for it, so to get parts there can be wait.
