Default advice on new car?

been looking at cars lately but i havent been able to find 'the one' so heres my list and if anyone can put in their opinions (yes i know i should test drive them which i have, and find the one that pleases me but other people's opinions would be nice here too in case there are some advantages that i dont know of or something along those lines)

(no order)
1. 2001 330ci (looks good, practical, lacks in performance)
2. 2001 s2000 (looks good, not practical, good performance)
3. 2004 rx8 (looks good, decent practicality, bad performance)
4. 1992 mr2 (decent looks, decent practicality, great performance)
5. mitsubishi evo (good looks, decent practicality, great performance, bad mits rep that scares me)

the e36 some people might find more attractice than what i rated but looks is all opinion =)
i would only have up to 30k so i suppose if i got a cheaper car i would be able to add modifications to it
could someone tell me about how reliable the evo is? i dont think i would be racing too much so im hoping the clutch wont wear away as fast as most people claim
i dont know if i want the old mr2 (well i do but i dont know if my parents would approve)
i would love the s2000 if only it had some back seats but thats jsut a disadvantage not a necesity=/
rx8 i hear has potential for aftermarket products in the future so thats a plus
the 330ci would be balla to have but it is the most expensive of the group and i dont know if i could take it seriously as a performance car since its really not in the same league as most

sorry if this was hard to read

s2000 of course since this is an s2000 board Did you try posting to each car board also? I'd have to debate you on the good looks of the EVO though...But good luck and get the s2k

i posted on bimmer forums for their bias as well

the rx8 forum imho is a lot more biased then the other boards
i think both bimmerforums and s2ki are a lot mroe open minded to other cars with a tad bit of nudging to their own respective cars
but thats why im posting here i want to hear the goodies of each car. i want to be persuaded to buy this beautiful machine! =)

Weird selection of cars you've gone with. If you think the S2000 is not practical, then you're going to laugh at the MR2's practicality.

Obviously going by the nature of your post, I think the RX-8 is the logical choice. If you throw practicality out of the window, the S2000 is an incredible machine.

I daily drive my '04 s2000 and it's never really an issue.

i would love the s2000 but it has to also appeal to my parents who are funding this machine =)
i dont think i would mind daily driving it but my parents want a back seat anyways for family use too i guess? =/

just so you know, RX8's seem to only get about 175HP to the wheels, making their true HP somewhere around 210 rather than the 238 Mazda quotes.

Ford has a history of HP exaggerations:
99 Cobra, 320HP, really 280, they fixed it
01 (?) Miata, 153HP, really 142, Mazda gave $500
04 RX8, 250HP, really 238, but REALLY 210. Mazda gave $500, but I think owners will complain again.

If you need a back seat, get the RX8.

With simple mods, it can get 190-200 hp at the wheels.

If you want a back seat, I would spring for the BMW. You don't seem to be addicted to the go fast crack pipe, so you'd probably be happier with a luxury type car for a while until you start craving some real power.

how bout a G35 coupe...decent mix of looks (subjective), performance, and pretty practical as well...
or just get the EVO MR
but out of those choices, i'd of course get the S2000

i guess its down to rx8 vs 330ci in one category and if parentals come through and let me get a 2 seater then they we will get an s2000

i dont know if i should make a new thread about this but ill keep this question in this thread for now

so... rx8 vs 330ci?

both of the cars im concerned about resale value. The e90 should be coming out soon for the 330ci so the e46 model would plummet in price. Also the rx8 seems to be a good candidate for a turbo charger and a definite candidate for an upgrade by mazdaspeed. If only suspension is going to be improved by mazdaspeed then i suppose the regular rx8 would be just fine with me but if a turbocharger came out for the rx8 then i would feel jipped of my money

whatcha think? =)
