I highly doubt 5-cylinders are why any manufacturer has dropped such designs in the past. Volvo has had them for years and done just fine, Audi once used them, Acura made one and seemed to do just fine, etc. I doubt whatever flaws a 5-cylinder setup has are not great enough to preclude using such a design. After all, any one of us could name a bunch of 4 cylinders with plenty of vibration and harshness.

GM went TO a 5 after never having built one before (ever?). IMO they should have used the 5 as the base Colorado engine, and the I6 as the up-level one, and uprated the towing/payload.

Don't forget that Audi was one of the first with a 5-cylinder engine.
The mid 80s sport quattros developed 300+ hp. Without a turbo, the 2.0 and 2.5 liter motors were not terribly powerful, but were torquey.

GM's I5 is called adequate in the Colorado and H3.

I liked the Vigor design and powertrain, but everyone I see today is rusting on the trunk and rear wheel wells.

Thanks to everyone for all the useless comments
I bought the car from the original owner, all service records in tact.
Car drives really nice and handles excellent for its size, engine has really good power and is super smooth. I dont know about you guys but every where Ive read, the Vigor has been super reliable and bullitproof. Yes parts are expensive, but that dont matter too me. I get Honda parts for cheap anyways....

Funny goes against what everyone has said
