Driven the M3, S4 & new 5 Series (530i). M3 is by far the sportiest but only has 2 doors (though 4 people do fit OK), the S4 I was quite shocked on how well it drove, and the interior is much nicer than the BMW's. If you don't mind the heft, the AWD & the torquey V8 are a very fun combo. I din't have too much space issues, but I am only 5'9". BMW 5series was a decent car, but definitely not as sporty as the other cars that you mentioned. Never driven a CTS-V...not really into Caddy's no matter how much hp.

thats a good review Fanman

Ive always been a fan of the Nogaro Blue S4s. When I totaled my 2001 S2000, it came down to a Nogaro Blue S4 or a Z06. Thats how much I loved those cars.

Im going to test drive a used Nogaro Blue 2004 S4 Saturday. I already know what mods I want if I get one. LOL

Love my S4. Perfect complement to the S2000. Only downsides - really sh!tty fuel "economy" 11-15 city 21 hwy and small back seat (if you regularly have lots of passengers)

Clean ones are well under 40K now.
I dont carry people often. I just want a 4 door cause I find myself in a lot of situations when 2 of us are going out to a bar or something and Ill get a call from a 3rd or 4th friend to come get them and cant do that in the S2000.

Plus, I think once I get my Z06 back from the shop, I wont need the performance of the M3. The S4 trumps it in luxury and the AWD is a bonus.

Kumar - what are you having done to your Z06? <curious> Maintenance or upgrades?

I'd go for a 5 series.

ugh its a long story

first it was at the paint shop for like 3 months

then i was getting performance upgrades done and after being there for 3 months, the place went out of business

now there is a new shop finishing up their mess

basically, its been gone over 6 months now but it should have it back soon

I suggest taking a test-drive of a 2-door G35 with manual. I haven't driven one but I was a passenger a few times and was rather impressed.

Lets not forget that the TL can be bought for a little over $30K. When you compare to cars in that price range it looks pretty good. When I bought mine I looked at Maxima, Avalon and Infiniti and the TL won hands down in that group.

I have been highly satisfied with the 2002 tl-s. It now has about 85k miles and runs better than new, burns no oil and gets 30mpg on the road at 70mph. The front wheel drive is only apparent when you push it very hard. Otherwise it handles very nicely. Don't know about anybody else's experience but the interior is still in good shape as is the paint except for the inevitable parking lot dings.

All of this is not to say that the TL is better performance car than Audi's, BMW's etc. It's just a good value at the price.
