Acura RSX type S

I had a deposit for the RSXTypeR about 5 months ago, when the RSX first came out. I wasn't planning on getting a car soon so I was going to wait till winter of 02' if it comes out. I know many of you will say that it will not come out this year or the next but I just placed it in case it comes out, if not I'll buy something else. The deposit was refundable and I got my money back after I decided to get the S2000 instead. I bought the S2000 not because it looks better or because it's faster, but I bought it because I wanted a car NOW! If the RSXTypeR was out now I would definitely pick it over the S2000! Serious! Seriously DouglaS2000, do you really think the RSX is really that fugly? I think it looks great IMO, and I'm sure many of you agree also. No offense DouglaS2000, but I must defend my car when I hear you say that.

My brother has an RSX-s. It's a nice car, but its nothing special. I have driven it a few times and here's how I describe it. You know how it feels to drive your S2000? Well the RSX is similar, only its not fun. You know how the S2000 rides like a tank but you don't mind? Well the RSX rides like a tank but you mind. And driving the RSX-s FEELS like you are driving a 4cyl, where when you drive the S2000 you are thinking holy crap that's a powerful motor.
Now I realize we are comparing apples to oranges, but I'm trying to give it to you in relative terms. For the $24k you'd spend on the RSX-s, I'd track down a used Integra Type-R or something like that.
Don't get me wrong, for $24k it's a damn good car. But for someone with an S2000, you're going to think its a wind-up toy.

EVERYONE should agree that the WRX hatchback/wagon is UGLY. The sedan has a look that might be acceptable, but the cheap rear seats don't fold down! The RSX is not ugly, but it does not stand out in any way. Thus, as a backup car for an S2000, the RSX type S wins in my opinion.

If you're willing to blow that kind of money on 2 vehicles that are so similar, I'd just sell the S2K and buy a new M3, coupe or convertible. You could prob. get a coupe for about the combined cost of the S2000 + RSX. The convertible would be more, but would probably be cheaper to own all-in by the time you factor in insurance, maintenance, etc. on 1 vehicle vs. two. Plus you'd have a totally bitchin', yet practical, car to drive every day!

I'm thinking about buying an Acura RSX s as a daily driver. The displacements the same as my s2k but about 40 hp less. Anyone know about the performance, mods available? I don't know anyone who has one to find out how they really like it.
Hey everyone,
Thanks for the input on the RSX. I think at this point I'm going to wait. Alot of new cars are coming out, and I'm in no real rush to buy one. I appreciate everyone's input!
