Never owned an eclipse. Not really a fan of Mitsu. The dyno reads.... 2g gsx. Seems pretty sporty to me esp w/ awd.

I personally hate the "sports car" arguements, its so hard to define. However, I owned a 4th gen eclipse and I loved that thing. I miss the mid-range tq every single day. And with simple bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) on both the s and the eclipse, the fourth gen eclipse will hands down put a bus length on the s2k. It makes more tq at 2k rpm than the s2k ever makes stock for stock. Although to be fair it does have a variable valve timing-3.8 liter v6 to work with. Now handling? the S beats it all day. No competition. besides unfortunately that v6 was working with front wheel drive and an open diff ftl. Say goodbye to traction and hello to torque steer lol

all simply my 2cents..

The eclipse i owned was the most unreliable POS ever. I learned how to drive a stick in it however so at least i got a good memory out of it. I sure as hell wouldnt ever consider the eclipse a sports car. Its a sport compact to me and even then it is horrible for what it is unless you got the gsx. Sports car = RWD 2 seater with overall performance (acceleration and handling over practicallity.) driver feedback a priority. Sports compact = A FWD 4 seater with decent acceleration but very poor driver feedback with emphasis more on practicallity than performance. A 3000gt? I guess i could consider that a sports car. Its obviously more tuned towards performance...but a eclispe? i just dont get it.

Everyone keeps saying that eclipses aren't sports cars but since when is a Miata considered a true sports car. Its was built to be a cheap car that was reliable that happened to have 2 seats and be RWD. In fact the MX-5's today are still built around that same platform and are not meant to be sports cars in anyway in my eyes. Just my 2 cents...........

The Starion is the only true sports car that Mitsubishi has ever made.
