[QUOTE=20thStrube,May 15 2007, 06:18 AM] Based on the price of the cars you are looking at and the cost savings of the Z06, you could pick the Z06 up and complelely recover the entire interior in suede, leather, vinyl, plaid, whatever makes you happy.

I got a 997 GT3.
It looks great, man! Wonderful color.

What options does it have?

I know this sounds a little weird, but if I had the money to buy an R8, I wouldn't. What I would do is find local owners of the 997 GT3 and Z06 and let them take me for a ride, and possibly use some of the money I'm saving from not buying an R8, pay them to let you take their car for a ride. I know it's weird, but money talks. And personally when looking to spend $70-115K, I'd like to have knowledge of what car fits my driving style and fits the bill of what I want to spend that kinda money on. I really think a test drive if imperative to this decision. And I think if you roll up to anyone is an NSX you gain enough respect for them to let you man the wheel of their car, atleast I think a dealership should.

When a car's demand greatly exceeds the supply, dealers have no good reason to offer test drives - to do so represents nothing but downside risk. Don't like your new R8? You prob. wouldn't lose anything selling it.

take this for example, the Ford GT.

Here is a clip

In the spring of 2004, Ford dealers will begin receiving their allotment of 2005 Ford GTs. The allotment won't be large; in fact, many dealers will never see a GT except in photographs. Less than half will receive one unit for the entire 2005 production run, and a tiny fraction will receive two or more. Total first-year production is slated for between 1,000 and 1,500 units, which explains why most of the 3,500 Ford dealers in the U.S. will never get one in their showroom. Rumor has it that hundreds within Ford Motor Company are among the first in line to buy a GT. Right behind them are the dealership owners, many of whom have been patiently waiting for a car like the GT to fulfill their exotic-car desires.

Approximately 550 were built in 2004, 1900 in 2005, and just over 1600 in 2006, for a grand total of 4038
some of those were exported btw.

I suspect the numbers of GT3s will be around the numbers of the Ford GT. So it's not as likely you can get a test drive just by asking.

I am going to the WC Driving event next month and I will get to drive a GT3.

Maybe I could get a test drive (I don't know) but at the WC driving event I will get to drive one back back to back with the F430, Ford GT, SLR and Gallardo.
