Owners on 6speed are posting ridiculous MPG on the 991 base Carrera's.
35 mpg average city/hwy !
for Porsche.

not happening?
then why is my 2007 Carrera with a 3.6 motor and weighs 5-600lbs more than my s2000 getting better gas mileage than a s2000 ?
it was unbelievable at first but the 911 is a great machine ALL around.
so think again buddy..

There are a number of reasons why a Porsche can get better fuel efficiency than an S2000 (better aero, better gearing, less full-throttle application to move as quickly, etc, etc) but they're all irrelevant to my comment. A Porsche is not going to get 35 mpg AVERAGE in city/highway driving. Period. End of story. If you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself. There are maybe four or five cars in North America that can do that and most are hybrids of some sort.
The ONLY way it might happen is if highway means "back road with 50 mph speed limit, followed by a "city" that has two stoplights in it (ie, some podunk town)"....

I took the opportunity to think about this the first time, and no way.

Sad to think about such a capable sports car relegated to a life of valets and trips to the country club.

Such is life when you make a sports car prestigious, capable and accesible at the same time. Plebs en masse will flock to it for every reason other than its stunning driving dynamics.
