95 mustang 5.0 or s2k????????

My friend's 95 5.0 tops out at 125mph in 4th gear - shifting into 5th just kills your speed. 
With me as passenger, we've only gotten a 6.8sec 0-60mph time - and that was the best of several runs. We've never actually raced head-to-head, but it's pretty much guaranteed my win.
Honestly, I don't know why his 5.0 dies at 125mph; it's like it hits a brick wall.
