No sedan is that light. So you won't find anything very similar to S2000 in driving feel.

No, seriously, go drive an RX-8! It really is an S2000 with a hard top and four seats.

Apparently the Mugen SI should be fairly close judging how the Type R faired.

So its slow in the quarter mile is what you're saying? I know 0-60 is slower than the S but not by much, and if you take an RX-8 out to an autocross course, you'll love the handling. I've driven RX-8s on twisty roads and autocrosses, but never dragged one. People say S2000s aren't drag cars, and I guess RX-8 really aren't drag cars.
I'm kinda embarrassed to say this, but back in 2003-2004 I saw some RX-8s running better times than C5 vettes at autocrosses in College Station & Houston...
I worked at a Mazda dealership for a few months while waiting for my new job to go through, and absolutely loved taking the RX-8 out for drives. There is a little more body roll than the S2000, but it is a really fun car to throw around on windy roads, I still kick myself for not buying one under Employee Pricing, the Red with metallic flake and blue are to die for

Personally I like the rx-8. It is reasonably quick -- i rode in one for a test drive. But like the others have noted the s2000 is a few tenths quicker than the rx-8, just like the 07+ 350Zs are a few tenths quicker than the s2k. You can also feel a difference in ther seat of your pants -- the s2k kind of winds up like Sonic the hedgehog. The rx-8 feels more linear and more like an electric motor -- so maybe it feels less explosive. S2K is lighter, but rx-8 is quite good for being a 4 seater.
