Civic an equivalent to an S2000?
The Si is one of the few 4-door cars that weighs under 3000
RX-8 not really a 4-door.
what else is there?
The IS250 with 6MT has 204hp and weighs 3440 lbs
any 3-series sedan will weigh 3400++ lbs
the RX-8 is the lightest RWD coupe around
Most/All RWD sedans weigh 3400+ lbs

I was trying to think of something that is lightweight, RWD, and has respectable power. Oh yeah and within reach of the average person.
Is the BMW 1 series close to that?
130i
3200 lbs / 265HP
Figure that the car would have to base around $30k to fit in BMW's US price structure. Anyone experience one of these?

Not to mention it is almost 4000 lbs.
Big difference of 4 door Civic SI & S2000/RX8 would be the FWD vs. RWD thing.
I'm 5'9" and I can easily sit in the rear seat behind me. Would not be surprised if 2 6 footers could sit in there for a while.

The fact that the S2000 is a CONVERTIBLE seems to have been tossed out the window. I don't see how you can ask for a similar experience without keeping in mind that the top comes off.
Of course, 4-seat sporty converts are in short supply, let alone 4-doors.
Anyway, I think as you've noticed already, there really isn't an direct comparison. The RX8 will offer a similar experience in terms of the motor's revs, but from my brief drive in one, it's a whole lot softer than an S2K in most regards.
