$-4-clunkers: Can I buy a POS truck off craiglist
I know there must be other opportunists on here! I want to get in on the free lunch like everyone else. Where is the fine print on this cash for clunkers/CARS program?
Can I buy any ol' gas-guzzling $500 POS off craigslist and get $4500 off a new C6, in addition to the trade-in value? Does it come straight off the sales price, and the dealer has to deal with the government, or is it my problem come tax season?
Are there any income restrictions? Suffice to say I will not be qualifying for any other hand-outs of any kind, and my taxes are definitely going up up UP.

Must have owned/insured the car for at least 1 year.
3,500 or 4,500 "rebate" depending on what you buy. There is no trade in value.
Car's MSRP under $45K I believe. The website lists it all out pretty plainly, not in "fine print"

No free lunch for me, you have to have owned said POS for one year, as stated above.
However, there is no income limit, so I hope someone else can take advantage of this!

the only way I could think around this would be knowing someone who owns a clunker, they trade it in and buy the car you want with your money, and gift the new car to you. you'd better know them really, really well though...
