My AP1's fuel cut-off was at 9400RPM, not 9000.
I'd prob. go w/ an AP2 simply b/c I've had 2 AP1's and variety is the spice of life.
Brownergy, I think the M3, Miata, and CS have the S2K's fun factor, though everyone's perception will be different.

I think I'd go AP2 too, it seems like every little quirk was worked out of the AP1s. The interior is nicer (but I do have an 00), the doors seem to close with a more satisfying chunk (but this could be an age thing as well), and the ap2 engines don't seem to have bent valve/overrev issues the ap1s have.
The 9000 redline does make the car more special since not many do it, but if you were to close your eyes and drive them both up through the revs, most people can't tell the difference, I mean you might as well just change the tach so it reads 9000 at 8000.
Still, I like the cleaner front bumper of the AP1, love that it does have the novelty of revving up to 9000, and that it does have the unforgiving oversteer characteristic.
I've pondered perhaps getting another S, but I think it may be time for me to move on. Good luck with your search, might want to consider a nice laguna blue instead.

Ive actually spent quite a bit of time looking at prices on Boxsters and Z4's now. Im quite amazed at how I can get a same year Boster S or Z4 for in some cases cheaper then what some of these crazy people are asking for S2000's. Its a bitmore but I tell you what, a 06 Z4 M roaster (obvious lease returns) are looking kind of nice.

It kinda makes me laugh when people submit S2000's to garage queen duty. You can get one for $8000 and I see no reason what so ever for it to be treated holy like some super car.
Buy one and drive it, there are tons and tons of them on the road. Some people are programmed to believe some kinda of exclusivity when owning these things.

It simply sounds like you don't understand. Maybe a lot of mature people think like the S2000 enough to buy it as their fun car. Many mature people have lived in the "gotta have the latest and greatest and most highest HP car out there" phase and now like the "I can get a S2000 cheap now that brings a smile to my face every time I drive it" phase. Ever wonder why the Miata sold so many damn cars? People like this don't go out rolling around in their S2000 to act like they are elite driving an "exclusive" car to try to get attention. Maybe they just like driving their S2000. Least you forget that it was the elite sports car of the day in 2000. Now you can own the elite sports car of the day 9 years ago for $8000. Sounds like an awesome deal.
