I've said this many times, that Hyundai and Kia are poised to be the next Honda and Toyota. They're follwing practically the exact same path. Some Hyundais are even being built in the U.S., don't know if this one is or not.

Hyundai spent quite a bit of money during the Super Bowl to promote the new Genesis.

I agree...the Genesis is quite a vehicle. It's a value leader if you're comparing it to a Lexus GS or Benz E-Class...but I'm not sure if folks will shell out the $40k + on a Hyundai... Guess we'll see how they do.

yeah i missed all the commercials till tonight when i heard " the 375hp hyundai genesis" ...i thouht WTF and had to look it up. 40k now, but i'm guessing they'll get some decent rebates at some point. if this was low 30's it would be a hell of a car.

Why does the tail lights remind me of 5 series? I just gotta love how the word "Green" is being used. In the same sentence as the V8.

This reminds me of Lexus LS400 when it was first introduced, check out this very old Top Gear clip reviewing this Lexus against BMW and Merc at that time, its like the story being told again but this time with the Genesis:

Going off topic for a moment, how freakin' old is that Top Gear clip? Wow, it doesn't look anything close to what Top Gear is today. Top Gear was boring way back then compared to what they are now, though still not as entertaining as 5th Gear was.

Not quite!

H & T had less competitors in a market that produced mostly mediocre (or lesser) cars in reliability. Nowadays, it's a totally different market. Even the domestic automakers have improved quality and reliability greatly. It's a much, much more competitive market than when H & T started to grow greatly in the '70s, '80s, and '90s.
