Thats the worst comparison ever. HDTV is better because it out-performs a regular tv. The question you should ask is "Can you see the difference between a Vizio HDTV and a Sony HDTV?" Then my answer is no, but I know Sony is gonna be a heck much more expensive.
The one who made that statement is just plain stupid. There is a definite different between regular and HDTV(that a fact). Most would prefer Sony just because of the brand and what people are accustom to how Sony perform along with the history behind the brand and class value.

Actually, you're really not disagreeing with me. Depends how you look at it, I might have sum it up too simply. When I said the emblem, what do you think the emblem represent? Exactly what you said. The history and the racing heritage behind the emblem. I didn't mean literally the emblem and the key. Who pays 20k for the emblem and the key? What do you think of when I say Mitsubishi and Subaru emblem? Rally Racing. Bad dealership experience, but Rally Racing none the less.

The key is like the buying experience up to the point when the salesman hand you the key......and beyond. With luxury brand, you get coffee and leather seat while you wait for the service. With Mitsubishi and Nissan, you get cloth seat. And like i said, a chunk of that price tag is for that of what's mention above.

I like to put it simply, and you like to make it sounds like the commercial. Unless I'm still understanding it incorrectly, you and I have the same idea.

Ya I thought you summed it up a little too simply. Should have caught on to that. I have the same idea as you. I just like to have the total experience when I shell out 40K for a car.

This was the OLD cayman S.

There is a new Cayman S in mid 2009 with more power, PDK trans, LSD, wider wheels, better steering and brakes.
I believe the wheels are the same size, and brakes unchanged in the S. (base Cayman gets Cayman S brakes though IIRC).

I've read at least one review claiming the new steering doesn't feel as good, at least w/ PDK.

[QUOTE=Vitt,Dec 16 2008, 11:12 PM] The J.D. Powers ratings have to be taken with a grain of salt. After checking their 2008 reliability rating this is what they show: Problems per 100 vehicles: Porsche 193, Nissan 224 problems. Neither has a stellar record.

[edit] When I looked at the ranking chart, the 350Z and Cayman rank equal on everything except

You get the same content through a regular TV as you do through an HDTV. The difference is that the HDTV presents that content in a more vivid fashion. Some people view TV as entertainment and want to enjoy the best possible TV-watching experience, so they pay extra for the HDTV. Some people just want to be able to see the news and the Weather Channel, so they save money and get the regular TV. Neither is right or wrong -- just different philosophies.

The subjective driving differences between a Cayman and a 370Z, or even between more similarly priced competitors like the S2000 and 370Z or the Solstice and Miata, are huge despite the similarities on the stats sheet. If you can't feel those differences, and consequently think the only reason to go for the Porsche is brand snobbery, I should be patting your head, not the other way around.

That's a good point. Of course, when you just want to get the picture, a less expensive 370Z will fit the bill nicely and save you some money. Its diminishing returns to go beyond a 370Z and step up to a Porsche - yes, you do get more, but for what you pay, the value is less unless personal value is included, and that's hard to quantify.

So you take an article about known Boxster engine problems, and automatically ASSume that translates that to known Cayman engine problems?
According to one of those posts the problem is also common to Caymans engines and include 986/987 but I don't have any way to verify it. Hopefully Porsche did address those known problems that can cause complete engine failure.

But my point was that even though you make good arguments in favor of the Cayman S, reliability according to JD Powers is not any better than the 350Z (although it is better for Porsche cars overall). But they're talking about the 2005 model since it's a 3 year survey.

Something else about the article that is just marketing hype from Nissan:
[QUOTE]Nissan engineers kept the car's weight distribution at 53/47 front to rear, which doesn't seem ideal for a sports coupe. The theory is that the car's dynamic weight distribution
