Default 350Z vs RX-8

What would you choose and why?

What would be easier to mod?

RX8, because Mazda mentality will make the RX8 a reasonably light car. The 350Z will have more horsepower but weighing in at a portly +3300lbs. I don't think it will be much faster. I believe the Mazda will also be a more reliable car. And I think the RX8 is better looking. The fact that it can seat 4 adults is a definate plus also. Only time will tell which will be the favorite of the tuners.

Why would a bunch of S2000 owners choose either and how would a bunch of S2000 owners know anyway?

Weight on the 350z Ranges from 3188 to 3247

That is a fact from www.nissannews.com

Car&Driver had a preproduction test car.....The new 350 Z will be just a little faster than the 300zxTT Expect mid high 13's and 0-6 in 5.2 with production cars. Motor Trend waits for a production car test.

PS the S2000 is a sweet car....I almost got it but didnt want a convertible.

The new 350z TRACK Version weighed in at 3387 (or so) per Car and Driver. The production car will not be lighter. In fact the track edition is supposed to be the lightest.

I don't like the front end look of the new Z, the sides and rear look nice. The RX-8 I like the front and sides, but I'm not too partial to the rear.

The big difference to me is the interior. I think the Z looks plain/ugly, while the interior of the RX-8, I think, is beautiful.

Overall, I think the RX-8 is going to 2900 lbs (how they are doing that I'm not sure) and I'm partial to the rotary.

So between the two, I'd take the RX-8

But RX-8 may perform a bit better, but I not a big fan of its looks, especially the idea of the swing out rear doors a la Saturn.
