Yeah you are right, I double checked afterwards. I was going off what my friend who owns one said, but I think he meant it's much harder to find a 6spd vs auto.

I'm having a great deal of fun with my '07 coupe. I have to agree with the comments about the roadster. The lines don't flow at all, as they do so nicely in the coupe. I was a bit lucky to find the 6 speed touring coupe i a color I wanted.
One rolled in while I was negotiating. They did, however, have eight roadsters on the lot. At least I have to give Nissan credit for continually improving the Z. And I'm very glad I waited for the new motor.

Driving 6MT 350 would make a big difference. even though its hard to find, but it's worth looking for really.

were i to get a Z, i wouldn't get the convertible. FWIW the coupe is a much better car--faster, nicer lines, etc. I like the S2000 as a convertible much better, and the drop top was important to me.

kinda depends on what you're looking for. A decent # of people here, like you, want the 'driving experience' - and therefore the auto is out. Others here are even more serious and track their cars (man, I hope to soon, but too busy with right now), and that might be difficult in the 350.

I do remember seeing a Top gear ( I think) episode on convertibles, and the results were that while they couldn't agree upon which car was best, they did agree that they all preferred the cars that were build from the ground up as only convertibles, as opposed to those that were coupes and then made into convertibles.

You may also want to look in to the maint. issues. Initially when I was looking at buying, I was also considering the 350. After sometime persuing their maint. section, I went with the S. just my .02.

350Z vert, if not girly, is too awkward to look at.

I spent one night reading about 350z's, and good god do they all have problems. Oil leaking, crappy transmissions, clutch master cylinders going bad real fast, something about most of their stock toe settings crapping on itself. The worst thing I've read was "I'm on my 3rd engine, and I haven't had the car for more than 15k" (first owner).

If the 350Z has that many problems, that doesn't bode well for the GT-R, which is much more complex and has more highly stressed components. I hope that's not the case, but it will be interesting to see how reliable it is (or isn't).

Automatics =

The 350Z's look good as a coupe, but are one of the ugly fat chicks of the car world as a convertible.
