Default 350Z convertible GT

Does anyone else think that is ridiculously overpriced? I had no idea they were so much. I have a friend who is finally back from Iraq and he is planning on getting one, so I thought I'd find some other cars around the same price that he could also check out. Of course that's when I found out how much it is. I still can't believe it!

Am I missing something? I just don't see it being worth that much. And the really sad thing is hes willing to pay it! Someone, please, help me talk some sense into him...I'm pushing for the elise btw.

-edit- Forgot to mention, he wants a sports car, but hes not really into track/racing. He's really just all about looks, but I'm hoping to convince him to start autocrossing with me also.

I don't think the Elise is a car that you buy just for the looks. It requires far more commitment from its owner than that, IMO. Does it have to be a drop top? He could get a new C6 coupe for a little more than that, or he could get a used one for a little less than that. The C6 convertible would probably still be a good bit more used. He could look at a nice used M3. He could look at a decent 993/996 911. Hell, he could get a '96+ Viper RT10, I would think. Could he get a used CLK 500 drop top for that? He's got lots of better choices, IMO, but the Elise probably isn't one of them for him.

Oh, and he could get an S2K for a LOT less than that...
