Default 335i coupe owners that are previous S2k owners

Can you write up some reviews? I'd also be curious to know from those who have driven the sedan and coupe with the sport package and what handling differences there are, if any.

Obviously, in the handling department, the 335i doesn't hold a candle to the S2000. But a great BMW suspension does wonders to support the 3500lb car around a track.

In terms of handling, there isn't one thing that is similar between the two cars.

I own a sedan but drove a coupe and you really can't tell a difference...same chassis...same suspension and they're within 50 lbs. of one another. As he said, it's obviously not as nimble as the S2000 but it handles quite well and the engine pulls effortlessly.

I know that it'll never feel the same, but would the handling capability be closer (or maybe even better) to the s2k if you got the 335xi?

335i is a lot longer and heavier (108 inch wheelbase vs 94 inch wheelbase), that's going to account for most of the difference.

I test-drove a 335i right before I test drove the s... I don't think it's right to even try comparing the handling between these two cars. It's not fair to the BMW, which is in a different category.

My main thought after driving the 335i was... "what a letdown." I had every intention of buying that car until I drove it... I thought that flat torque curve would be exhilarating, but it was rather, well, boring. flip switch on, go real fast. Flip switch off, stop going real fast. If I wanted that, I wouldn't insist on a manual transmission. I prefer enjoying the middle regions of the thottle and feeling a range of response in my cars.

The 335i engine is flat-out amazing. No argument. And yup, it's definitely quicker than the s2k. But it's nowhere near as exciting to drive.

I drove the S, bought one, and never looked back.

I see sport suspension in the "sport package" for the sedans but not the coupes. Does the "sport package" for the coupe include any performance-related goodies? Does all coupes have the same suspension?

Test drove an automatic coupe. A lot of torque available at all rpms. Handles well in the corners, it feels closer to the 350Z and not as agile as the S2000. The refinement makes it a lot less exciting to drive than the S2000, but it is a perfect GT car.

I like to have both, they are different cars that compliment each other.

I never said they were in the same class or anything else buddy. I asked this question because I am a previous S2000 owner and wanted to hear some comments on the car from people like myself, nothing more. It's understood around where what a sportscar is, what a GT is, etc. We don't need a lesson, thanks.

I'm another one of those s2000 owners on the fence about the 335i. Those of you with a 335i, did you also at one point consider a used 2005/2006 M3 and if you did, what reasons did you decide against the M3?
