Heres some more exact strait line numbers from Motor Trend for both of them:

Listed in the Road Test Summary of the June 2007 Road & Track it has the following:

BMW 335i: 4.9 (0-60), 12.3 (0-100), 13.5@105 (1/4 mile)
Lex IS350: 4.9 (0-60), 12.7 (0-100), 13.5@103 (1/4 mile)

Note: I've seen stock timeslips on the IS350 at 13.2 posted at Club Lexus.

that IS350 is all over the place, there was just a mag article where IS350 against 335 was at 5.2 0-60 and 13.8 1/4

At this point I'd have a hard time choosing between them. As high as the performance is, neither is a true sports car, so that said I could see myself opting for the better appointed Lexus. They did the interior so well on that car, it is heads and shoulders above the rest.

[QUOTE]BMW better fix the overheating problem owners been having with the 335. [QUOTE]

Done...are you happy now? Let's comment with knowledge not ignorance...the overheating issue was only on early run automatics that weren't getting oil coolers the problem has been fixed. My car spent half a day on a dyno in a hot aluminum building in Florida and continued to lay down big numbers. I have had the opportunity to run a couple IS350's on the highway in my 335 and it's never pretty but my 335 has Procede. The hater (y2ks2k) wants to wine because the Lexus didn't have the sport package...neither did the BMW and the tires on the non sport pacakge 335 with all that torque had little chance of hooking up down low. The previous 330 tested beat the Lexus in ALL handling categories...just needed more power.

I've driven both and dynamically, the 335 is a step above the is350. Power wise they are close enough, the interior of the IS is flashier but also noticeably smaller than the 335. If you truly appreciate driving and not just flooring it around town, the 335 is superior in a way that is difficult to quantify...you just have to drive them hard back to back to understand.

Chino, something about the column lock was malfunctioning randomly so the car would not start (software interlocked). The error message said to move the wheel to a different position and restart. This started happening every ten starts or so, maybe a week ago. I'd have to try a half dozen times before the lock would engage and retract and THEN the car would start. They fixed it in two days so they must have had a spare column in stock.

The good news, to me, is they had to reload the software package (first thing I noticed were different colors on the display) so I got updated functionality in several programs. Nice little improvements like --

BT phone connection now has a number scroll on-screen during calls to enter additional tones if needed (used to have to press phone buttons).

Display defaults back to the last screen when it was shut down (usually Nav map for me). It used to always turn back on to the main four-way choice screen.

And more stuff like that. BMW will not automatically update your software if you just ask because it is a "big deal" in the shop (hours of work). Dunno why they make a software update so difficult but that's the way it is.

I can tell you why they make it a big deal...newer versions of BMW's software allow the driver to handle many things via the onboard computer without having to pay the dealership to 'turn them on'. I installed the OEM alarm in my 335i over the weekend and if I had the latest version of BMW"s software I could just activate the alarm myself...I don't so I have to go pay the dealer $100 to turn my alarm on.

Its problably 100% related to traction controll. Meaning that magazines have found it hard to turn it off (even though 07 has a switch and 06 needs a 4 pedal tap done).
