Of those two I'd go with the Audi, as you said AWD is a major consideration, and I feel Audi's Quattro is far superior than BMW's.

Quattro is probably the best AWD system out there, with Subaru being close.

If she wants German and not Japanese, thus leaving Subaru out, I'd go with the BMW for various reasons.

G35x? Maybe more reliable than the Audi and Bimmer (though the 335i is a superior car). Our FX35 has been flawless over 34,000 miles. Just gas, oil, and a new air filter.
