It does look like a porker but it beat the Carerra in Nurburgring
We're going around in circles, but the GTR has not beat the 911 around N'ring. It has not beaten anything yet as noone has driven the production car there ... most likely not even Nissan, who's been driving the test mules ... which may be far from production like.
now Iam wondering since the 7:38:54 time is official if it is faster than the p-car that it was being compared to.
That time is far from official. It is just something Nissan claimed. That's all. Nissan also claimed 7:15 at one stage.
Should not be long now before we do get an official time. Hopefully over the next few months.
Is that quicker than a Z06 and GT3?
If it does 7:38, then it's much quicker (ie. 10+sec) then either. It's be 1/2 way to Carrera GT, Zonda category (in terms of laptimes).

I wonder if the AWD will help it shave time off 'ring times. The RS4 posted some very impressive times for it's hp/weight ratio... I'm assuming because of the AWD factor.
If this posts similar hp / tq number to a 997 Turbo, I don't see why the GT-R numbers couldn't be as good or better than the GT3's.

997GT3 has posted quicker time there than 997TT ... I think it was about 5sec quicker.
Also (according to the specs) the new GTR will have similar power to 911TT, less torque (~100Nm less), and more weight (~100kg more).

I see no reason why it would. Afterall, 4WD is not always of benefit in terms of laptimes. It help on slippery surfaces, and also with power down traction, but at the same time the cornering speeds can be lower.
Also Nurburgring is a fast track so power down is rarely an issue there.

I don't know ... 8:09 is where I'd expect it. ie. somewhere between a new 911 and e46 M3, and in line with M5 / M6.

FYI. Here's an on-board clip from one of the test GTRs at the 'ring. In this clip the car returns a 7:39 lap. No idea how close to stock it is, what tyres it's on etc ...
