Nope, I bought cheap cars from them before. Its a big Porsche/BMW dealership. My M3 was $6-7k off retail and it was CPO. I sold it year later $2k more then I paid.

That's not $6K off retail, it's more like $10K off retail. I guess we'll never know but I'd be very suspicious of a car priced that low. "If it's too good to be true...."

well if you count the fact that my M3 was CPO it would be $8-9k off. $25-27 are the auction prices for 07-8 Cayman S or 09 Cayman, so my guess is that they took it for trade-in at around $25k....selling it for $28k is a quick $3k profit.

that was my offer to them $25-27 wholesale

currently I have a camry for DD duties and the s2k for fun. If Someone bought both for 28k, I'd probably look for a clean evo 9 and do some mods 4 doors and AWD is good for winters in the NE and if you have to carry people or stuff.

For a single car, probably a 2013 WRX hatch premium if new. Or an E46 M3 competition package or Evo X MR if used.

For multiple cars probably a used 335 or 135 and a Miata.

There isn't anything new for $28K that fits the bill for me as an only car.

A new WRX isn't sporty enough compared to a used 335/135 that are both a lot faster in a straight line, can be had for $28K all day long, just as fast around the corners, much smoother, nicer and more refined. Any of the other hot hatches fall short, just in other areas.

I had this scenario a while ago and a 335i was the answer, for me. I really wanted an EVO, IX, but I couldn't find one that had low miles and wasn't modified. WRX's are not worth the hype or the money they command.

$28K is hot hatch money, and they are all ok but they are better cars out there on the used market that are still under warranty.

So an EVO or 135/335 I think are the best options for $28K used as one size fits all category, the choice depends on what you value more, luxury/refinement or hoonage and for new cars I would pass in this price range.

335 and 135 actually don't handle that great especially on track, not enough camber, soft suspension, no LSD. It's a great street car with lots of power with a tune but I'd rather have a new WRX with a tune if I were to do track work too. If it's 90% DD and 10% track I'd pick the BMW but you're still comparing apples to oranges, new vs used w/o a warranty. I'm a former 335i coupe owner BTW.

Neither does the WRX. They understeer badly, there suspensions are soft and don't have LSD's either. At least the BMW has a 50/50 weight balance.

To each his own but I have driven a new WRX several times and I wasn't impressed with the gobs of understeer.

Interesting, I did not know that the base WRX does not have a LSD. I guess that'e one of the benefits of paying all that extra money for the STi which is really over priced. Oh well glad I don't have to make that 28K choice
[/quote]

Yup, the STI is a big difference with the little things, stiffened dampers, LSD etc.. But yeah, I had to make this choice so I looked into them aggressively and the it just wasn't worth the money when I can get a 135/335 that I feel is better in almost every way except maintenance/reliability risk.. You have a GTR if I remember from your posts so yeah who the hell cares. haha

You are not alone on this one. To me it was a really great looking car and very rare.

I have thought the same and, actually have the same 2 cars as you too. My first choice would be a 335i convertible. My second choice would be a 335i sedan or older S4. Also I feel like all the WRX's Evo's, and speed3's are very capable fun cars they but, lack any sort of class.
