I've read that the U.S. weight w/fluids (hate it when they quote "dry" weight, which is what I think your figures are) is 3,021 lbs. Still pretty darn good.

Thanks - that makes more sense.

There's a very good chance it will sell for crazy money down the line but I don't think it's the last of the breed. I have a good feeling this R is simply a testbed for the 991.2 and that this same manual transmission will be offered on the future GT3/GT3RS. No way they designed this transmission to only be used on 991 cars. 991 is the amount this will be limited to based on the plaque on the dash.

Also, apparently if you have major connections you don't actually have to own a 918 to get a allocation: http://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-a...r-at-msrp.html

I'd be plenty happy to have the 911 Sport Classic and call it day. It has a good blend of the looks inside & out, yet has more of the options for daily driving.

Sport Classic is even more rare and expensive!

Yeah, sport classic was more expensive, rarer, and had less than this car. There was nothing special about the engine in the SC - 408 hp IIRC.

People are complaining about lack of availability and price.

That's basically it. Almost every has said it's an awesome car and they're happy for it. WTH are you two crying about?

Fear not fellow 918 non-owning plebs, it looks as though this gearbox will indeed trickle down in to the 991.2 GT3. Porsche appears to be listening.
