2016 Mazda Mx5 unveiled

200 hp @ 2200 lbs is still semi quick tho. I wouldn't be surprised if its as quick if not faster than the s2k. I hope it gets 240-275 hp or is moddable. If it is this will be my next 3rd car.

welp, it's a roadster and they kept the A-arms up front thank god! stupid hood gap stds give it an awkward hump that could have been smoothed out a little.
I'd agree, the lights are a little small. I'll get used to it I think. I just wonder if I can fit in it better than a NC Miata and that it's more ergonomic than a NC.

I've been stalking miata.net for the ast two hours reading about the release. I come back here looking for input on what the average S2000 guy thinks and all I'm reading is a page full of people arging that it looks like a S2000. I'm disapointed in the engine, why can't they match motor specs that honda produced 14 years ago?!

^ Because that's not the original Miata. I think Mazda has been very clear that they do not want to step far away from the original design. They have the formula right on this car and people obviously love the car for what it is. A light weight affordable fun roadster. The Miata has been in production for a long time and people are not getting tired of this little car. I want to test drive one!
And the Miata looks nothing like the s2000. I don't know where you guys are getting that from. The only thing it has in common is the number of seats. Just look how straight the s2000's lines are compared to the Miata. It's hell of a lot more curvy that the S.

etc... in the new miata.... I saw some s2000 similarities in new Jag f type as well when I first saw it. As did some car magazines.
The mx5 and s2000 look more alike than an s2000 and a Porsche Boxster.... or a z4..... so the camp that says the
mx5 and s2k only are similar in that they are 2 seat roadsters are simplifying things a bit...
I never liked the looks of the Mx5 until now..... the longer and lower nose, more sculpted look etc are all
attributes that the S2000 had over earlier Mx5s. Not so much this one...
success of this mx5 may force honda to rethink new Roadster.
