So far so-so in my book. I really liked the 1999 Miata when it came out. I thought it was a nice continuation of the original. This one isn't a bad car but I think it moved from classic British sport car to a more Italian design with odd headlights. I think with better lights and perhaps none of the odd, low vents I would like the design more. Like the current Corvette I think the designers turned the design up to 11 when perhaps 9 would have been better.
I think the same is true of the interior. I don't see much S2000 in that design. Perhaps more S2000 than Mustang but not much more.

The headlights look too small for the rest of the car. It looks like the lights of a M3 that's been pinched together towards the middle of the car. Over all I like the design but certain elements I don't care for. I like the interior the most. Lol. And even then I don't like the hand brake being on the driver side and the body colored door trim is kind of weird.

I'm not sure if I like the open mouth look of the front but overall the car looks great. As I and many others have stated before, they should offer a Mazdaspeed variant with the 2.3 turbo motor in the MS3. Come on Mazda, it's been 25 years already and the car deserves it.

Where are you even coming up with that? Please stop perpetuating false info. In 1999 the S2000's MSRP was $32k and change. In 2007 the MSRP of my S2000 was $34,500. And figuring out a car's value from 10-15 years ago isn't as simple as plugging in the inflation; you have to consider trickle down technological and manufacturing costs, among other things.

It's said they'll be shaving 220lbs off the ND, that's impressive. I'd love to see them cram the MZR 2.3l turbo in it, I think at that point I'd strongly have to consider one actually. But in reality, they'll never do it. That said, even with 200hp it would be quick after dropping that weight.
If they do release a mazdaspeed variant, I'd probably kick the tires on it a bit, especially if it came out prior to boosting my s. I really like the aggressive look. However: What's with that screen though. A co-worker had one as a rental mazda6 and it was hideous. Looked really cheap

I still don't get why people compare the performance of a $36k (in 1999!) car, to a car that cost less than half that new at the time.

The price was based on what my parents paid for theirs back then. They bought one off the floor, and it was marked up to that number (back in 2000). If you think the new Miata will not be marked up, you're kidding yourself.
But even without a markup, $32,000 is a much larger number than $20,000, especially in 1999-2000.
