Anytime Honda has anything exciting to say, Ford drinks their milkshake. New NSX only to be outdone by the Ford GT. Finally a CTR state side, only to be outdone by an AWD Focus RS stateside.
Dude see this is the kinda of comment that shouldn't even been posted.

What the hell do you even know about either car? Ford out done nsx? Hahaha on what accounts? Focus out did the ctr? How? It's supposed to be the fastest fwd car in the World?

We're are you coming from?
Do I have to make the connection for you? The Focus RS is going to be AWD thus as a performance hatchback (which the Type R will be) it already wins. Fastest FWD car in the world? Great, that's like coming in first at the Special Olympics.

What if the Type-R is faster than the RS?

Something to ponder....

This is the situation with the GTI and Golf R. When traction isn't the limiting factor, the GTI is faster than the heavier R. I wouldn't have believed it'd be faster with such a hp disparity, but I believe autoexpress or autocar did comparisons and it was fairly conclusive.

This the first time I've heard of the GTI keeping up with the R. These are both the MKVII variants?

The best I can find is a Golf R to SEAT Leon Cupra (which is a hopped up GTI underneath). Not exactly a GTI, but I think the commentators make a valid point about AWD.

Honda says the Type R has the fastest top speed in its class (167 mph). That indicates both excellent aerodynamics (nearly flat underside, the article says) and big power. I'd expect power to be 300+ hp, based on that number.

It doesn't take 300hp to hit 167mph. I've hit those speeds with 200hp.
